"Congratulations with your new book, Light Travels II!! We demonstrate the theoretical and practical implications of visuals working with English learners in our urban schools of Los Angeles. A portion of my work as a full-time faculty lecturer at California State University, Dominguez Hills requires supervision of Multiple Subject Bilingual Credential student teacher candidates. I purchased 5 "Light Travels II" books to present as gifts to my student teachers and their Master Teachers. One of the student teachers integrated your ideas of photography into her reading and social studies lesson. She took photographs of the Port of Los Angeles, a familiar location in close proximity to the school. She scaffolded the students into a writing lesson through the use of the photos, collaborative groups, graphic organizers, and discussion.
